Unscripted Television Development

For several years, I owned and operated multiple independent production companies, where we developed, sold, and produced over a hundred episodes of unscripted television. In total, I’ve been involved in the production of over 250 episodes of series and TV specials, either through development or writing. This doesn’t include numerous projects that evolved into pilots or development deals with networks and major production companies.

Highlights

Currently, I’m with Buck Productions, where I’m involved in developing and producing shows that have been successfully sold and made. Recently, I completed the pilot for a new home renovation series, "Vancouver Reno," for Magnolia Network and showran two episodes of their series "In With the Old." I also produced pilots for MTV, including "Collector's Piece" and "Yo Stay Hungry," and the feature-length documentary "OJ Simpson: Blood, Lies and Murder" for Reelz. I’ve showrun proofs of concept for Magnolia and HGTV, and I’m currently developing a true crime series for A&E and a game show for FOX.

My creative journey began in scripted film and television with my company, Sugarfilm Canada. We sold two TV concepts in Canada—one to CTV and the other to CBC. These projects included an original series and a movie-of-the-week based on an unpublished true crime novel, both co-written by me. Additionally, I wrote a feature script adaptation inspired by South Africa's Truth & Reconciliation Commission, funded by Telefilm Canada. I also created and produced 78 episodes of the unscripted series "At the End of My Leash" for Slice Canada and HGTV, which was nominated for three Gemini Awards, including "Best Lifestyle Series," and sold in over 100 countries, airing as "In the Doghouse" on Animal Planet. I followed this with "Puppy SOS."

In my role as a development executive and writer at various production companies, I created projects across a wide range of unscripted genres—from weddings and weight loss to live behind-the-scenes music events. The formation of Interior Day Entertainment took me to the U.S., where I developed concepts optioned by major production companies like Pilgrim, Asylum, and T Group, including the series "Stewarts & Hamiltons" on E!, and produced a pilot for the "Real Housewives" franchise set in San Diego.

At Remedy Television + Branded as Creative Director, I collaborated with the SVP of Development to create and develop new concepts, produce sizzle reels, write decks, assist with casting, and pitch new ideas at conferences like Realscreen. Highlights include showrunning and directing a shark series pilot for National Geographic.
